Smoothie Sales Increase; So Do Purchases By African American Consumers

Mintel, a well-known market research company, recently released data that smoothie sales topped $2.5B in 2007, with 39% of African Americans surveyed having drank a smoothie in the last 30 days, compared to Hispanic (47%) and Caucasian (26%) consumers.

Hispanics polled were also more likely to eat whole or sliced fresh fruit (23%) instead of drinking a smoothie, versus Black (9%) and White (18%) participants. Source
